Emily Grace teams up with Jacob Jackman for a performance that struggles to find its theme of Rooted in an often awkward two-part show.
As the first act of the show, Jackman at times has the crowd in stitches but more often than not finds it difficult to land a punch.
Like Jackman, Grace’s ideas are sound but her delivery is often off.
Exploring relatable millennial problems, like entering the housing market and being an adult while still feeling like a child, Grace’s experiences resonate but her lack of stage presence and conviction leaves her punchlines wanting.
The chemistry between Grace and Jackman feels uncomfortable and forced when they share the stage, though with more time the two very unrelated parts of this show could perhaps become one.
