If you’re a fan of toe-tapping tunes from the 1880s to the 1980s this is for you!
Under director William Shaw’s watchful eye, the Adelaide Male Voice Choir is a well-drilled outfit of about 24 voices that sing with heart and love what they do.
Their hour plus program is full of all the best melodies from operettas and musicals that are as familiar and trusted as your breakfast wheaties. And it’s really nice to hear Oh What A Beautiful Morning, Some Enchanted Evening and Do You Hear the People Sing performed up close and personal and live onstage.
Experienced soloists soprano Joanna McWaters and baritone Andrew Turner add zest and musical glamour in operetta excerpts from Strauss to Romberg while good old Gilbert and Sullivan take the spotlight and supercharge the choir’s singing in centrally placed brackets.
Long live “live” music making – there’s nothing like it.
