The mind of British comedian Paul Foot must be a very strange — and incredibly silly — place indeed.

He bounds on stage, full of energy, with trademark flowing mullet and short leather jacket, and so begins a rambling, crazy journey which is mostly, utter nonsense. But in the best way possible.

The running narrative is about the difficulties one faces when trying to organise a “suburban orgy”, yet somehow he weaves in stories about 80s British snooker stars, the Falklands War, a duck-billed platypus and the vexing issue of dining on soft shell crabs.

Foot appears slightly deranged, constantly wandering around, speaking furiously into his mic, occasionally accosting patrons in the front row.

It’s all quite mad but it would be a mistake to dismiss him as totally bonkers.

There’s a method to his lunacy and the subtle way he delivers certain lines and brings everything back from the brink is a testament to Foot’s unique comic genius.
