“The aggregation presents an incredible opportunity to acquire more than 10 per cent of Flinders Islands arable area in one transaction,” LAWD senior director Danny Thomas said.
“Flinders Island is famed for its high-quality beef exports and is responsible for producing 14 per cent of Tasmania’s beef.
“Significant capital expenditure has been spent on soil amelioration, laneways and livestock water systems to ensure labour efficiency.
“We’ve received interest from a wide range of parties along Australia’s eastern seaboard attracted to the large scale of the aggregation as both a cattle breeding operation and carbon abatement opportunity.”
The Flinders Island Farms run a pasture-based, self-replacing beef cattle operation focused on breeding black Angus cattle, with an estimated carrying capacity totalling 75,000 dry sheep equivalents.
Cattle are sold to a range of markets in Tasmania and mainland Australia as feeder and restocker cattle.
Existing structural improvements include extensive cattle and sheep handling facilities, rural shedding and eight dwellings.
There is also the potential additional income streams for carbon abatement and biodiversity offsets.
The Flinders Island Farms are for sale in-one-line or as any combination of individual titles and properties, via expressions of interest closing October 10 at noon.
