A seven-bedroom New England-style homestead at the centre of a NSW rural estate has been sold as part of an eight-figure deal.

Set on 40ha near Bowral in the NSW Southern Highlands, Williams Crossing, located at 83 Tourist Road, Glenquarry, has been sold in a private deal.

The striking property was listed for sale early this year by the Studdy family, who built the expansive homestead about eight years ago.

Vendor Edward Studdy is the chair of Frensham Schools, a girls’ independent boarding and day school at Mittagong, about 20km north of Glenquarry. He and wife Jodi sold the property.

Mr Studdy is also the son of the late Network Ten and Goodman Fielder chairman John Studdy.

Details of the purchaser and purchase price remain undisclosed due to confidentiality arrangements.

When the property was listed for sale earlier this year it was expected to receive offers worth about $20 million.

The top-dollar purchase of Williams Crossing comes as several high net worth individuals have snapped up significant rural property holdings in recent weeks.

Melbourne-based horse breeder and the founder and CEO of Phoenix Lithium, Nick Wakim, reportedly paid about $30 million for 1233ha Allanvale estate near Avenel in North East Victoria.

Meanwhile Bell Asset Management chief investment officer Ned Bell and his wife, Alison, paid about $9 million for the 18ha Mount Macedon property known as Pepperell Farm.

The centrepiece of Williams Crossing is the grand homestead, which includes three bedrooms that have ensuites and walk-in robes.

There is also a master suite with two expansive dressing rooms and a tower above the main bedroom.

Inside there is also a formal dining room plus three living areas, a bar with provision for a large wine cellar and separate cool room.

The property is also capable of carrying about 100 head of cattle with 100-year-old trees separating the paddocks.

Sydney Sotheby’s International agent Michael Pallier and Drew Lindsay Real Estate agent Samuel Lindsay handled the sale of Williams Crossing.
