Strathglen Station, Duncraig, Vasey: Trio of Victorian farms to fetch $27m-plus combined

Three Victorian farms have hit the market, which include a 390ha rural estate and a former Western District dairy. See the details.

Farm cash incomes may experience up to a 41 per cent decline

A trio of separate Victorian farms have hit the market where they could field offers worth more than $27 million combined.

Jim and Glenys Osborne have listed for sale their 390.5ha cattle property Strathglen Station, in the state’s Murrindindi region, after more than 30 years of ownership.

Purchased as a relatively bare block, the couple have crafted the rural estate, building a four-bedroom homestead in 2001 and developing the farmland to carry 300-350 breeders in previous seasons.

Offers of $11.5 to $13 million are expected for the property, meaning it could fetch about $33,000 a hectare.

“We have loved creating something and making this property a viable operating farm,” Mr Osborne said.

“The garden is now a real eye-catcher and a feature, Glenys has poured her heart and soul into it.

“We have also planted about 23,000 gums across the property plus deciduous trees along the driveway and in the garden.

“It has been a hard decision (to sell) and emotional, but you have to make this decision with your head not your heart.”

The property is for sale via Noble Knight Real Estate with expressions of interest closing November 10.

Meanwhile in the Western District, the subsidiary of a Chinese dairy giant is selling the 366ha former dairy farm originally purchased about eight years ago.
