FEMALES sold to strong competition at Yea's annual feature female cattle sale today.

Rain falling throughout the sale appeared to give confidence to buyers, who were mostly restockers from Mansfield, Pakenham and the local area. Garrison feedlot was active on unjoined heifers.

Cows and calves sold from $910 to $1240, while pregnancy-tested-in-calf heifers and cows sold from $700 to $1140.

Strathglen Station at Strath Creek sold the top pen of 11 Angus cows and calves, third calvers, with October-November drop calves and not rejoined for $1240.

Weaner heifers sold to a top of $640, but down to $340 in places for lighter, secondary types.

Pullitano Pastoral from Mansfield sold 15 Angus heifers, March-April 2013-drop, Welcome Swallow blood, for $640.
