Reynolds family to sell Tyburn farm for $12m-plus

400ha of prized farm land near Ballarat has hit the market for the first time in 100 years and it is expected to fetch more than $27,000 per ha.

For the first time in more than 100 years a prized piece of blue-ribbon farm land near Ballarat and Geelong is up for public sale.

The Reynolds family are selling their 432ha Tyburn farm with a price tag of at least $12m - equating to more than $27,000 per ha.

Elders selling agent Nick Myer said the Tyburn property was a quality combination of location, size and growing country.

“This farm has been superbly maintained and has an excellent input history,” he said.

“This is a very tightly held region and farms of this size and quality do not come on the market very often.”

Mr Myer also said he expects the sale process will be very competitive with a wide range of potential buyers interested.

“We are expecting a broad range of interest from multiple different investor groups,” he said.

“Anyone from local buyers and farming families looking to expand their operation might be interested.

The Tyburn farm has been held by the same family for over 100 years.

“We could also see corporate investors interested if they want to add this farm to their portfolios.”

Over the past 100 years the farm has grown canola, barley, wheat and peas on the property.

It is located at 240 Colac-Ballarat Road, Cressy, and is a 45 minute drive to Ballarat.

Two homesteads and extensive shedding are on the property.

The farm will be offered as a whole or in two parcels and has the capacity to run livestock.

An expression of interest campaign is underway and will last until April 4.

It comes as earlier this month, a West Wimmera farmland record was broken when a Lillimur property was sold under the hammer for $27,000 per hectare.
