A noted NSW Riverina pastoral property is on the market with more than 1300ha for sale more than a year after the holding was originally listed.

The Satchell family is selling its 1336ha Yambla Station, located 27km south of Holbrook, as they prepare to end a 37-year tenure at the renowned property.

In October 2023 the sprawling station was listed for sale at a mighty 2654ha, but after a sale failed to materialise, half of Yambla has been offered back the market, priced at about $24-$25 million.

Owned in a family partnership by Hugh, John and Rosemary Satchell since 1987, the family has run an expansive enterprise running a Mumblebone merino flock and Coffin Creek Angus herd alongside a cropping rotation in recent years.

The family has run 9500 Merino ewes crossed with Dorset rams and followers, 150 breeding cows and 250 backgrounding cattle as part of its operations across the entire Yambla property.

The Satchell family have opted to retain the remaining 1318ha of the property.

Yambla Station, at 1336ha, has an estimated carrying capacity of 16,000 dry sheep equivalent.

Yambla offers a significant portion of improved perennial pastures including phalaris, clovers, fescue, rye-grass, chicory, and cocksfoot, rated to support an estimated carrying capacity of 16,000 dry sheep equivalent.

A large portion of the property has country sown to perennial pastures with production currently focused on prime lamb and wool production, as well as cattle trading and cereal crops (wheat, triticale).

Inglis Rural Property selling agent Sam Triggs is handling the sale of Yambla and said it offered rare size and scale for the NSW eastern Riverina.

“Offerings of the calibre of Yambla Station, boasting scale, high percentage of established pastures and turnkey enterprise are seldom offered to the market.

“Yambla Station has been continually developed over the last 37 years under the single ownership.”

Water is a feature supplied from a solar powered pump on the permanent spring fed Daly Creek and storage dam spring or well, a bore plus a large network of 34 surface dams which are primarily spring fed.

In 1989, the Satchell family built the five-bedroom homestead which stands today. Inside there are two bathrooms, an open-plan kitchen and multiple living areas.

There is also a second significant, fully renovated four-bedroom residence with veranda, deck, garage, established lawns and mature gardens.

Existing infrastructure includes a five-stand raised-board shearing shed, undercover sheep yards, cattle yards and containment yards.

Shedding at Yambla offers two machinery sheds, two workshops and a large hay shed.
