Two landmark Victorian farming stations are under offer after hitting the market less than three months ago – and combined could fetch $20 million.

Murrindindi Station at Yea and Glenburn Station, which are just 21km apart, are under offer for an undisclosed amount.

The 178-year-old, 430ha Murrindindi Station was listed for sale in November, with an asking price of more than $12 million.

The 305ha Glenburn Station, home to one of northeast Victoria’s most well-known cattle stud property, was listed for sale in October with an asking price of around $9 million.

Selling agent Bruce Elliott from Elders at Yea confirmed both stations are awaiting settlement for confidential figures.

He said the two stations were unique properties and they were keenly sought after.

“Both properties have a decent size holding and their proximity to Melbourne was also something that was attractive to our potential buyers,” Mr Elliott said.

“There were a lot of inquiries about the properties – mostly from domestic and Victorian buyers.

“There was a little bit of interest from New South Wales, but not a great deal.”

Mr Elliott said the separate buyers of the stations were both looking to continue on the property’s cattle stud legacy while the current owners were looking to sell the properties due to lifestyle changes.

Murrindindi Station is one of the state’s most historic landmark estates widely regarded for its Victorian-era homestead, original structural improvements and prime agricultural land.

The property includes nine certificates of title, grand gardens and dual frontages of eight and two kilometres respectively to the Yea and Murrindindi Rivers.

The grounds of the homestead feature a rose garden first established in 1881, manicured hedges and statues, vine-covered arbour, lush lawns, established trees, a 30-tree orchard and river red gums believed to be 400-500 years old.

Just a 15 minute drive down the Melba Highway, is the Glenburn station, which comprises an architecturally designed four bedroom home set within a stunning garden designed and created by Rick Eckersley and Barry Teese.

Under the existing ownership, the property has been operating as a successful background trading enterprise turning over around 1,000 cattle per annum, with scope to increase with further development.

The property was sold in September 2018 after it was listed for sale in November 2017, with an asking price of $5.5 – $6 million, $3 million short of its 2021 asking price.
