Kabinga at Marnoo in the Wimmera makes more than $15k a ha
A tightly held farm in the Wimmera has sold for more than $15,000 a hectare or $6000 an acre — believed to be a new record.
A CROPPING farm at Marnoo in the Wimmera sold for $3.9 million last week – equating to a whopping $15,445 a hectare, or $6253 an acre.
The price is believe to be a new record.
The 252ha property, Kabinga, was sold under the hammer and purchased by a local farming family from the Wimmera.
Selling agent Michael Fratin from Elders said the property was one of the best in the district.
“There is really strong demand for good rural holdings,” Mr Fratin said.
Kabinga had been owned by the same family for more than 100 years.
It comes as properties across the state sells for huge per-hectare prices – and break records.
Also last week, a farm near Skipton at Yalla-Y-Poora in Victoria’s Western District sold for a record price.
The 179ha cropping and grazing property, located on St Marnocks Rd, sold under the hammer for $23,588 a ha, or $9550 an acre — smashing expectations.
The property was purchased for $4.22 million by a farming family from the area.
