Arrawidgee Red Angus’ Jeff and Janet Thynne selling NE Vic farm
A 511ha farm at Brimin with 8km of Murry River frontage has been listed for sale by a Red Angus cattle farming family.
A 511ha North East Victorian farm on the banks of the Murray River, and home to Arrawidgee Red Angus, has been listed by owners Jeff and Janet Thynne.
Mr and Mrs Thynne spent two years searching for the perfect property to expand their Red Angus enterprise, before finding Bunyarra, located at 479 Brimin Rd, Brimin, between Yarrawonga and Rutherglen.
“As you enter Bunyarra through the red gum entrance and drive down the 1.5km tree-lined driveway, you feel that you have arrived somewhere very special,” Janet said.
“It had to have Murray River frontage, irrigation, privacy, undulating land and have the potential to grow anything in abundance. Bunyarra ticked all these boxes and more.
“Bunyarra has seclusion on a grand scale with undulating land and sandy rises which is rare in this area and 8km of Murray River frontage.
“We are fortunate that the well draining soil types allow the opportunity to grow anything you can think of.”

The Thynnes have run their Arrawidgee Red Angus herd on Bunyarra, as well as introducing Black Angus and Speckle Park herds.
“We definitely will miss the cattle when it comes the time to move on to the next phase of our lives,” Janet said.
The property comprises 511ha with a Crown lease taking the grazing area to 647ha, with 404ha cleared.
Water is a key feature at Bunyarra with more than 1500ML of water entitlements via four separate sources including 1080ML of groundwater, 342ML of high reliability Murray River water, 76ML of low reliability water, 61ML of dam storage, 5ML of stock and domestic with pumping points from the Murray River, Bunyarra Creek, two bores and the dam.
Summer and winter cropping can occur on Bunyarra thanks to four pivot sites, flood irrigation and two laterals. Recent crops have included corn, maize, wheat, canola, fodder and hay production
Janet also said Bunyarra offered unique income and recreational options including more than 20 permanent camping sites with annual levies in place.
“We have had so many great times camping with our family and friends on the best stretch of the river between Albury and Yarrawonga, enjoying cooking on campfires, riding our horses, fishing with our grandchildren and having a ski on nearly always perfectly flat water,” she said.
“We also enjoy sharing our piece of paradise on the river by allowing numerous campsites where other families and their friends come and stay, they very much appreciate the opportunity.”
Accommodation on Bunyarra includes four houses with the primary homestead featuring double glazing and renovated bathrooms, kitchen, electrics and plastering in 2020.
Three additional homes include a three-bedroom home near the main house, then two rented houses which are on their own off-grid power supply and overlook an anabranch.
Working improvements include 17m x 30m machinery shedding, 15m x 6m four-bay fertiliser shed with 15m x 7m concrete apron, 18m x 14m Hay shed, 500-cow steel yards with new crush, tack shed and power.
Earlier this year on the north side of the Murray the owners of a renowned Deniliquin freight company listed their 3625ha Riverina farm for sale which could make $25-$30 million or more.
