Russell Tait and Vicki Meyer to sell premier Deniliquin farm, Gundagurra
The owner of a major freight company is selling his 3625ha aggregation which could field offers worth $25-$30 million-plus.
THE partnership behind one of Australian agribusiness’s leading freight companies is selling its major mixed farming enterprise, near Deniliquin in the NSW Riverina.
Russell Tait and partner Vicki Meyer, who own and operate Deniliquin Freighters, are selling the 3625ha Gundagurra farm, which is expected field offers worth $25-$30 million or more.
Almost 40 years ago Mr Tait, the chair of the Deni Ute Muster, moved to Deniliquin where he started his business and became a key pillar in the community.
Mr Tait’s Gundagurra, which was acquired and amalgamated during the past 20 years, is for sale as a whole or in six adjoining lots including: Gundagurra (433.32ha), Bluebell (281.33ha), Boundary Park (435.85ha), Prosperity (371.01ha), Gollops Run (1262.3ha) and Pretty Polly (841.92ha).
Nutrien Harcourts Deniliquin selling agents James Sides and Jake Freshwater are handling the sale with Mr Sides describing the property as one of the finest he has seen.
“I couldn’t recommend this property more highly, it really is a farm of epic proportions,” Mr Sides said.
“With its rich and diverse soils and the opportunity for development, it offers dynamics not seen on the market in our region in recent years.
“Russell and Vicki are highly regarded in our community, thanks to the way they contribute to Deniliquin, but they have decided to pursue their off-farm business interests.”
During their tenure Mr Tait and Ms Meyer have used about 3000ha of alluvial, self-mulching and soft loam soils for cropping with 1000ha of modern lasered irrigation, full recycle networks and water from the Murray River system and deep bores.

Additional livestock numbers are turned off on a rotation basis annually.
Water access and supply is also a key feature at Gundagurra, which Mr Sides said opened the door for irrigation development to grow cotton crops or permanent horticultural plantings such as avocados or nuts.

Another 1489 units of permanent Lower Murray Bore water will be available to the purchasers in addition to the land purchase.

There is 52km of exclusion fencing installed alongside supporting silo infrastructure at Gundagurra, which is located 14km from Deniliquin and two hours drive from Albury.
