Albury buyer snaps up Old Toonallook at Bowna prior to auction for millions
An Albury couple have snapped up a farm prior to its auction, securing the property for millions. We reveal which farm attracted the high price and why the couple were drawn to it.
OLD TOONALLOOK at Bowna, NSW has sold prior to auction to a couple based in Albury.
The 104ha property sold in the mid two million dollar range at the beginning of last week, and was due to be auctioned last Friday.
It had been owned by Vicki White for the past 14 years and was listed for sale with an asking price of more than $2.2 million.
Selling agent Dave Colvin from Rodwells Ruralco Property said the result showed that even in uncertain times with impediments to a traditional property sale process there are buyers prepared to act on the offer of a quality property.
“The vendor had a personal plan to offer the property for sale by a conventional public auction process but this was upset by the COVID-19 situation developing.
“We elected in conjunction to press on with her personal plan and in consequence Rodwells Ruralco Property offered Old Toonallook by a private sale process with an auction if necessary, to be held with phone bidding by registered bidders only on May 8.
“The purchasers are an Albury based professional couple who plan to reside on the property with the convenience of a thirty minute commute into town”.
Old Toonallook’s history indicates that in the 1870s it was a stopping and stabling place of Cobb and Co, with several structures believed to date to this era remain including what is thought to have been the stabling block.
The real feature is the 50 square Old Toonallook homestead that includes a part of the original weatherboard structure from the 1870s.
It was built in 1925 and stands as a classic and gracious farm homestead.
