Instead of going after the main DNC speaker of the day, Kamala Harris’s VP nominee, Donald Trump chose to fixate on a less famous name.
Welcome to our coverage of the Democratic National Convention in the United States.
We’ve just witnessed day three of four, and while there was a little less inherent star power than yesterday, when both Barack and Michelle Obama spoke, we still had some interesting names.
The headline acts were Kamala Harris’s pick for the vice presidency, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and former president Bill Clinton, whose wife Hillary spoke on Monday. We also heard from former House speaker Nancy Pelosi, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and rising Democratic star Pete Buttigieg. Oh, and TV star Oprah Winfrey.
Elsewhere, Donald Trump has held his first outdoor rally since the attempt on his life five weeks ago. Speaking to supporters in North Carolina, Mr Trump accused both Obamas of getting “personal” in their criticism of him.
