Farmer killed in quad bike accident near Colac
A 74-year-old man has lost his life in southwest Victoria after a quad bike accident on Tuesday.
A farm worker has died in a quad bike accident at a property west of Colac after an incident on Tuesday.
The 74-year-old Simpson man who was working on a farm at Pirron Yallock, west of Colac, yesterday died following an incident involving a quad bike.
The man was herding cattle about 9.45am when the incident occurred, WorkSafe Victoria said in a statement.
WorkSafe is investigating the incident.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner after the fatal incident which occurred at a Tomahawk Creek Rd property.
“It is believed a man was riding alone on a Tomahawk Creek Road property when his quad bike rolled sometime in the morning,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said.
“The 74-year-old Simpson man sadly died at the scene.”
Emergency services received reports of the incident just after 10am with police, CFA and SES attending.
The death brings the workplace fatality toll to 56 for 2022, 20 fewer than at the same time last year.
The death comes after a 55-year-old man died at a Willaura property in the state’s west on Thursday last week.
