WorkSafe investigating after man dies at western Victorian property

WorkSafe Victoria has released more details about the man who died a western Victorian property on Thursday last week.

WorkSafe in a statement said it was understood a 55-year-old man died while operating a telehandler.

They said it was understood he was using the telehandler to move a large steel door frame when the load fell and struck him about 2pm.

WorkSafe said they were continuing to investigate the incident.

The incident brings the state’s workplace fatality toll to 55 for 2022, 20 fewer than at the same time last year.

A man has died at a western Victorian storage facility on Thursday following a workplace accident.

At about 2pm on Thursday afternoon emergency services were called to a storage facility at Yarram Gap Rd in Willaura, about 36km south of Ararat in the state’s west.

A man, aged in his 50s, died at the scene.

Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police attended the incident.

Victoria Police officers are assisting WorkSafe in relation to the incident and will prepare a report for the Coroner.

A WorkSafe spokesman said they were investigating the incident.

Details about the accident and how it occurred have not been outlined.

Meanwhile, in central Victoria, Hay Australia Victoria has been charged by WorkSafe Victoria after a worker was crushed to death at a Bridgewater worksite in February 2021.

A 29-year-old Bendigo man died in the incident.
