Two tightly-held Victorian farms will change hands for the first time in more than 100 years after deals worth an estimated $20 million-plus were completed recently.

The 430ha Tyburn farm at Cressy, located about 60km from Ballarat and Geelong has been sold by the Reynolds family with two entities securing the property.

Tyburn was listed for sale in March with price expectations of more than $12 million, but the transaction price remains undisclosed.

Tyburn consists of the 160ha Tyburn East block and the 273ha Tyburn West block, both of which have been sold.

Three hours north of Cressy, Glenmore at Boort has been sold by the Lanyon family in a deal understood to be worth more than $8 million.

The 857.55ha Glenmore farm was listed for sale in May with price expectations of about $6.98 million or $8135 per hectare.

At a figure of $8 million, a local farming family paid more than $9300 per hectare to secure Glenmore.

The sale of Tyburn and Glenmore is a significant moment for both farms, with the properties changing hands for the first time in more than 100 years.

The Lanyon family first established their Boort farming operation in 1876 when the pioneers reached the region.

Since then the family has expanded their holdings to the six-block enterprise of Glenmore.

The new vendors are planning to use Glenmore for cropping although it is also suitable for winter cropping, red meat production or summer crop.

Most recently the Lanyon family ran sheep, grown cereal crops like canola and beans and lucerne crops in the summertime.

In the Golden Plains, the Reynolds family’s ancestors chose the land for Tyburn in 1917 before expanding their holdings over time.

Elders agents Nick Myer, Sean Simpson and Rob Rickard handled the sale of Tyburn. Nutrien Harcourts agent Alister Kemp brokered the deal for Glenmore.

Earlier this month Yentrac, a 398ha cropping and grazing farm near Ballarat was sold under the hammer on Friday for $10.7 million, with three lots purchased by two buyers.
