A popular South Australian radio star has celebrated the birth of her daughter after breaking the news of her pregnancy live on air in January.

Stacey Lee, host of FIVEAA Afternoons, and her husband Ben Millar shared the news on Friday morning, after welcoming baby Molly into the world last week.

The news of Lee’s pregnancy was first revealed in January during Breakfast with David and Will on FIVEAA, the presenter and former TV newsreader donning a shirt with the slogan “In my pregnant era”.

“Welcome to the world Molly,” the new mum said in an Instagram post on Friday.

“We’re so happy you’re here! Mum and bubs are both doing well and Dad is getting used to being outnumbered.

“We can’t stop staring at her. She’s already so spoiled, and so are we.

“Our hearts are full.”

Lee appeared on FIVEAA Breakfast on Friday, and said Molly was born last week, weighing in at 3.5kg and measuring 49cm.

She ended up having a planned C-section after spending the last month of her pregnancy with Molly in breach – when a baby is upside down.

“We tried everything; pilates, walking, there’s these spinning babies exercises you can do to try and turn her, she wouldn’t turn,” she said.

“She’s super stubborn like her mum, which is to be expected, I’ve got so much karma coming my way.”

Lee said her husband, Ben, had been up with her for “every feed in the middle of the night”, and the pair had been “doing the nappy changes together and the bathing together”.

“It’s so exciting, we’re so happy,” she said.

When Lee broke the news of her pregnancy, she said she and her husband were blown away and welcomed the surprise.

“It’s been a two-year journey for us, we were really really over the moon when we got the news,” she said in January.

While Lee celebrates the exciting time with her husband, she’s taken maternity leave from her afternoon radio slot.

FIVEAA announced in May Leith Forrest would take over in the meantime, his voice joining the airwaves in early June.

Lee will return to her regular slot in the new year.

“I couldn’t think of anyone better to hand over the Afternoons microphone to,” Lee said in May.

“Leith has so much experience and is incredibly well known and trusted by our FIVEAA listeners, so I know my radio baby will be in safe hands.”
