The hunt for a beloved stolen pet, who has been missing from her family home since Tuesday has ramped up, with a new billboard erected to help in the search.

Flossie – a brown toy poodle – was stolen in a home break-in on Tuesday afternoon on Fisher St, Fullarton.

Since her disappearance, the little pooch has been at the centre of news bulletins and the hot topic of radio stations around the state, with thousands on social media sharing posts in the hope of finding Flossie.

Radio station Mix 102.3 show Hayley & Max in the Morning have helped ramp up the search, with a billboard asking for information about the stolen dog installed above the Caledonian Hotel in North Adelaide.

Flossie’s owner Ann-Louise Hordacre told The Advertiser she believed the thieves who took her beloved dog were “opportunistic”.

“She looks like a puppy, they may have thought she would make a nice gift or they could sell her,” Ms Hordacre told The Advertiser on Thursday.

“She would be anxious, she would be scared … she’s so little.

“She didn’t run away … she just runs to me, that’s all she wants.”

Ms Hordacre said she only has one message for the people who have taken her precious Flossie.

“Take her somewhere safe, take her to the vet if you don’t want to go to the police,” Ms Hordacre said.

“I just want her home, I don’t care about anything else.”

Since posting about Flossie’s disappearance on Tuesday, Ms Hordacre has been overwhelmed by people sharing the message and leaving words of support and care.

“I really value all of the sharing of Flossie,” Ms Hordacre said.

In her social media post, which has since received hundreds of shares and comments, Ms Hordacre detailed the circumstances surrounding Flossie’s disappearance.

“My laundry door was smashed. Flossie was carried over a locked side gate. There was no way she ran,” she posted.

“The police have confirmed she was stolen. I just want her back. If someone has her please take her to the police or take her to a vet and she can be returned to me. I am completely devastated and worried about her.”

Police believe the break-in occurred sometime between 8.30am and 5.30pm on Tuesday, January 28, with neighbours reporting hearing noises around 1pm.

Flossie is microchipped and police are appealing for witnesses and ask anyone who may have been in the vicinity to contact Crime Stoppers at www.crimestopperssa.com.au or on 1800 333 000.
