A roofer who died in a workplace accident at Maryborough has been identified as a beloved Brisbane father of three.
A roofer who died after a workplace accident at a Maryborough factory has been identified as a Brisbane father of three.
Wayne Eggart from Bracken Ridge was working as a subcontractor on the roof of the CRM mining foundry on June 4, where he sustained serious injuries.
He died two days later.
On Wednesday, the Office of Industrial Relations confirmed in a statement “an investigation is underway into a workplace incident in Maryborough last week. As this is a current investigation, no further comment can be made at this time”.
Mr Eggart, who was aged in his 50s, passed away on Friday two days after the incident on Wednesday, June 4.
It’s understood he was on the roof at the Zante St factory when he was injured.
He was working for HKH Roofing Pty Ltd, undertaking work for Paynters Pty Ltd on a site subleased by Downer to CR Mining.
HKH Roofing, CR Mining, and Downer have all been contacted for comment.
Queensland Ambulance Service said: “Paramedics transported one man aged in his 50s to Hervey Bay Hospital with life-threatening abdominal injuries, following a workplace incident on Ellena Street at 3.11pm on June 4”.
