Teen’s arm ‘trapped’ in machinery equipment in workplace incident at Coominya
Workplace Health and Safety Queensland investigators have launched a probe after a teenager’s arm was caught in the claw of a machine.
A terrifying incident has occurred at a workplace in southeast Queensland, leaving a teenager with severe lacerations to her arm, sparking a Workplace Health and Safety investigation.
Emergency services were called to a reported workplace incident at an address on Coominya Connection Rd, Coominya just after 11am on June 24.
Queensland Fire Department and Queensland Ambulance crews worked to free the teenage girl’s right arm, which had become entrapped in the claw of a machine.
It’s understood the piece of machinery was about 4.5m above ground.
A QAS spokeswoman said the teen’s arm suffered significant lacerations and was treated on scene by paramedics before she was later flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.
A Workplace Health and Safety Queensland investigation has been launched.
A WHSQ spokesman said they had been notified of the incident and WHSQ investigators attended the site and are conducting further inquiries.
The WHSQ spokesman said no further comment can be made at this time.
