A POPULAR Tex-Mex restaurant is making its debut on the Sunshine Coast and will create almost 50 jobs in the process.

El Camino Cantina will open at the Sunshine Plaza in late October, located on the picturesque waterfront dining precinct known as The Riverwalk.

The 250 seat, colourful cantina will be lit up with neon lights and fluorescent signage, including a festively-lit timber-decked entrance overlooking the natural waterway that is a central feature of the Plaza.

A selection of soft-shelled tacos, sizzling fajitas, burritos, quesadillas, buffalo wings, nachos and other classic Tex-Mex dishes will be on offer from 11am until late.

Margaritas are served shaken or frozen and in multiple flavours from mango to strawberry, and beer lovers will be able to indulge in a range of Australian craft and flagship Mexican draught and bottled cervezas.

Daily deals include $2 taco Tuesdays, 10-cent buffalo wings every Wednesday and half price fajitas on Thursdays.

El Camino Cantina has created 45 full-time and casual positions and has supported the economy by engaging about 50 professionals and tradespeople on the project.

Positions to be filled at the restaurant include restaurant managers, chefs and casual waitstaff.
