Wellington Livestock’s Steven Boulton to face Sale Magistrate’s Court over cattle traceability charges

WELLINGTON Livestock principal Steven Boulton will front the Sale Magistrates Court next month on 332 charges relating to the movement of cattle.

WELLINGTON Livestock principal Steven Boulton will front the Sale Magistrates Court next month on 332 charges relating to the movement of cattle.

Mr Boulton, 49, has been charged for not recording the movement of cattle between two properties without notifying authorities within seven days as required under the Livestock Disease Control Regulations 2006.

The charges have been laid by the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources.

The case was recently adjourned to March 26.

Mr Boulton is one of two owners and a co-director of Wellington Livestock, of Cobains Road, Cobains, near Sale.

He said he had no comment to make “at this stage”.

Each charge carries a penalty of $792.85.

If found guilty of all charges, Mr Boulton faces a total penalty of $263,000.
