UPDATE: HORSHAM has had a welcome 6mm of rain but there is little more expected from the band that moved across western Victoria.

As forecast, totals were between 5-10mm in most areas, but failed to penetrate far beyond Horsham.

Charlton has had 2.4mm and Hopetoun 1.4mm so far, but it was a disappointing result for grain farmers, in particular across the rest of the Wimmera, southern Mallee and central Victoria.

Edenhope recorded 10mm this morning as the band moved across from the west.

Many farmers are keenly watching the movement of the storm on the Bureau of Meteorology’s weather radar.

The Bridgewater district has not had more than 7mm in any one fall since February.

Casterton and Hamilton have already had about 7mm today.

Portland has recorded 4.6mm.
