UPDATE: VICTORIA is experiencing its own version of northern Australia’s wet season.

The tropical monsoon conditions typical of the Top End have been funnelled across the state in the past week by a low pressure system tracking east across the country.

Most weather websites are expecting totals across the state to reach about 100mm over the weekend.

As the tropical rain began falling across the state yesterday, Mildura has 15mm and Bairnsdale 17.5mm.

The Bureau of Meteorology says the heaviest rain is expected tonight and tomorrow across most areas, with the chance of storms and hail.

Friday 9am totals: Murrayville 7mm, Walpeup 3.4mm, Swan Hill 1.4mm, Edenhope 9.6mm, Horsham 5mm, Longerenong 6.4mm, Nhill 7mm, Hamilton 15.2mm, Ballarat 8.6mm, Falls Creek 24.8mm.

More 9am totals: Ouyen 2mm, Werrimull 13mm, Ultima 4mm, Dimboola 10mm, Apsley 10mm, Navarre 10mm, Stawell 3mm, Kerang 3mm, Rochester 2mm, Stanhope 3mm, Tungamah 13mm, Yarrawonga 15mm, Albury 5mm, Charnwood 23mm, Myrtleford 23mm, Mansfield 30mm, Lakes Entrance 30, Fiskville 11mm, Wichelsea 11mm, Traralgon 24mm, Woodend 4mm, Dartmoor 5mm, Lismore 13mm, Mortlake 8mm.
