SunRice boss gets 17 per cent pay rise despite 230 redundancies

The second-lowest rice crop on record and 230 redundancies didn’t stop SunRice granting its chief executive a hefty pay rise.

SUNRICE chief executive Rob Gordon, has gained a 17 per cent pay rise, lifting his overall remuneration to $3.34 million.

Mr Gordon received the hefty pay rise despite earnings per share slumping from 54.5c last year to 45.8c this year.

Last year SunRice sacked 230 staff due to a small crop.

Net profit after tax was $22.7 million this year, down $10.1 million or 31 per cent.

SunRice Chairman Laurie Arthur also enjoyed a lift in his remuneration, from $192,877 to $197,699.

SunRice’s 2020 financial year ran for the 12 months to April 30.
