MOTORISTS are being warned to avoid travelling to the Blue Mountains after rain and icy weather created dangerous driving conditions and caused a number of road closures.

The Great Western Highway is closed to traffic between Leura and Hartley, and the Bells Line of Road is closed between Scenic Hill and Old Bells Line of Road, police say.

“Traffic is heavy on all approaches to these closure points so motorists are strongly advised to stay away,” Sydney’s Transport Management Centre said in a statement.
