John Farnham’s family reveals the Aussie singer is being treated in hospital for a respiratory infection
John Farnham’s family has provided an update on the Aussie singer’s health after he experienced a setback.
John Farnham is being treated in hospital for a respiratory infection as he continues his recovery after surgery for mouth cancer last August.
An update on the 73-year-old’s health on Friday from his family said Farnham is “currently being treated for a respiratory infection in hospital, but he is comfortable and receiving the very best care.
His wife Jill said she and their sons Robert and James are “very proud” of his determined efforts during rehabilitation and treatment since the surgery seven months ago.
“John continues his recovery following last years successful surgery. He’s always been a strong and determined person with everything he’s ever done and we are all so very proud of him. He is responding well to the specialist care he’s receiving,” Farnham’s wife Jill said.
The family also thanked the medical staff and fans who have supported Farnham during his illness.
“The family would like reiterate their appreciation for all the medical staff that have attended to John over the past 6 months and for all the kind messages that been received from across Australia and the world,” they said in the statement.
His son James said after the surgery the You’re The Voice legend “got teary” when told of the overwhelming love and support from fans and his peers when his health battle was revealed.
“He never expects everyone to still love him, but they do. So thanks, pretty much, everyone” James Farnham, 34, told A Current Affair.
Talentworks entertainment executive David Wilson, who has been acting on behalf of the family with their close friend Gaynor Wheatley, told the Herald Sun a month ago that Farnham‘s recovery had been “going well.”
“It is a process, it is slow and steady as she goes. He is going well,” Wilson said.
He shared how the master entertainer had compèred the family’s tradition music trivia competition at Christmas.
“He was MC with the family all gathered around and we laughed like drains as we were all tested on our musical knowledge,” Wilson said.
