A NEW case of coronavirus has been linked to the Australian Lamb Company in Colac, mere weeks after the site reopened after an initial outbreak in July.

An employee at ALC, who lives in Geelong, is understood to have last worked at the Colac site last Friday.

An ALC spokesman said the company was advised by the Department of Health and Human Services last night the employee has tested positive for COVID-19.

“In line with directions from DHHS, all close contact employees will be tested today and will be in quarantine for the next 14 days. Consequently, our production shift (PM) is currently closed, but all other shifts continue to operate,” the spokesman said.

The latest case brings the total number of coronavirus cases linked to ALC to 84.

The plant was ordered to close for 14 days after a series of cases were linked to the plant, before reopening in early August.
