Lamb ads take aim at Jacinda Ardern, Mark McGowan, Joe Biden
“Cooking lamb over some ashes if you’re keen?” The latest international marketing ads from Meat and Livestock Australia are on point.
Some cheeky billboards are taking subtle digs at world leaders to remind them to eat Australian lamb.
Following the lamb industry’s latest epic advertising campaign, The Lost Country of the Pacific, which draws on Australia’s isolation from the rest of the world for the past two years, the international billboard campaign continues along the same theme.
The international billboard campaign called, Letters to Leaders, invites leaders around the world, including Western Australian premier Mark McGowan, to head back down under for a lamb barbie.
The series of humorous messages have launched in major cities around the world and will be in London, New York, Paris, Auckland and Perth until January 30.
The campaign is tapping into topical events and lighthearted rivalries, according to Meat and Livestock Australia.
The UK billboard takes a subtle dig at the recent Ashes result: ‘Hi England, cooking lamb over some ashes if you’re keen?’, it reads.
The US message reads, ‘Hey Joe, BBQ at my place. Love, that ‘fella Down Under’.
In New Zealand, the message, ‘Hey NZ, BBQ at ours. No need to bring any lamb’, is a gentle reminder to our friends over the ditch where the best lamb really comes from.
Closer to home, the Perth message comments on Western Australia’s ongoing isolation from the rest of the country, ‘Hey Mark, come visit Australia some time. We’ll fire up the barbie’.
MLA domestic market manager Graeme Yardy said now international borders (and nearly all of our state borders) were starting to open up, “we wanted to get our Aussie Lamb message of unity out a bit wider this summer.
“We hope our Letters to Leaders give people a laugh, but also serve as a reminder that Australia is home to the most delicious lamb.”
The Novak Djokovic saga was highlighted in this ad:

And in this billboard they took a cheeky stab at Western Australian premier Mark McGowan and New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, due to ongoing border closures.
