Four men ‘persons of interest’ after child shot with crossbow in remote NT town
Arrests are yet to be made after a four-year-old boy was shot with a crossbow in a remote town last week, with police saying they have identified four men as being of interest.
A group of men allegedly involved in a bloody fight which left a four-year-old boy with an arrow through his foot remain on the run.
Last Friday, a child was shot with a crossbow in Palumpa following a disturbance in the remote town which involved multiple people armed with weapons.
Police say four men approached a residence, where one of the men allegedly fired a crossbow through an open front door.
The arrow pierced the foot of a four-year-old boy, who was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The following morning, police said they had identified the alleged male offender and were attempting to track his whereabouts.
On Wednesday afternoon, authorities revealed all four men, aged 19, 24, 26 and 38, had been identified as persons of interest, but were yet to be located and arrested.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Despite its tiny population, disturbances in Palumpa have recently made shockwaves online.
In April, footage emerged showing a stolen car being used to chase a police vehicle down the dirt roads of the community, at one point rear-ending the fleeing car.
More than a week later, two men, aged 19 and 21, were arrested for their alleged involvement in the incident.
That same month, a Toyota HiLux was stolen in Darwin and paraded online.
No arrests have made in relation to the stolen HiLux, which was ultimately found burnt out in Palumpa.
