A young boy has been taken to hospital after he was shot with a crossbow during a disturbance in a remote community.
At 5.30pm on Friday, NT Police say they received reports of a “disturbance” in Palumpa involving multiple people armed with weapons.
Police say a group of up to four men approached a residence, with one man allegedly firing a crossbow through the front door.
The arrow pierced a four-year-old boy’s foot.
The boy’s mother took the child to the local clinic, who treated his injuries and notified police.
The child’s injuries are considered non-life threatening and he has since been taken to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment.
Police have identified the alleged offender and efforts are currently to locate him.
