Police probe after deaths of man, woman in Melbourne

A man was found critically injured near a freeway only hours after a woman was found dead inside a home, with the pair believed to have known one another.

Police are investigating the deaths of a man and a woman believed to have been known to one another in Melbourne overnight.

A woman was found dead inside a home on Ormond Rd, Ascot Vale just after 4pm on Friday, according to Victoria Police.

It was about two hours later that a critically injured man was found on the Princes Freeway at Little River, about 44km west of the Melbourne CBD.

He died at the scene.

Police believe the man and woman were known to each other.

An investigation has been launched in relation to the two deaths.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the incidents continue to be investigated, however at this stage detectives are not looking for anyone else in relation to the matters,” Victoria Police said.
