77-year-old Boggabilla woman allegedly targeted in violent home invasion

Police are investigating after an elderly woman was allegedly assaulted at a home near the Queensland NSW border.

An elderly woman has been injured in her home after an alleged home invasion overnight.

Emergency services were called to a Boggabilla home on Saturday morning following a reported home invasion at the property.

Initial investigations suggest two men entered the home around 1am and where they startled a 77-year-old Boggabilla woman inside.

The pair assaulted the woman, leaving her with a cut on her foot, bruising over her body and swelling and soreness to the back of her head.

It is understood the group then left the home.

Investigations are still ongoing.
