A powerful new e-bike ever has just arrived in Australia and it’s going to make a lot of people very happy.

Black Rock: A driver's dream

PAPRIKA 53 believe they’ve revolutionised the entire gravel bike industry following their latest launch of the Model 25 GT.

It’s the world’s first DJI-powered e-gravel bike that’s turning heads for its bold engineering, unique design, and apparent performance.

The brand has crafted a bike that claims to offer comfort over harsh terrains at higher-than-normal speeds, and this is largely due to the advanced componentry integrated into its design.

Founder Susie Lie believes the their latest Model 25 GT will thrive in Australia thanks to its rugged terrain and adventure-hungry cycling community.

“From the rugged outback to the breathtaking coastal tracks, Australia offers some of the most challenging and dynamic gravel riding experiences in the world,” Susie said.

“The country’s cycling culture is driven by adventure and exploration, with riders constantly seeking new ways to push their limits.

“This makes Australia not only a natural testing ground for the Model 25 GT, but also the perfect place to introduce a bike that’s designed for a new breed of off-road.”

Gravel bikes have exploded in popularity over the past decade because they fill a gap that traditional road and mountain bikes cannot.

Road bikes are fast and efficient on smooth tarmac but struggle on rougher surfaces. Mountain bikes are built for trails but tend to be heavy and slow, so they are not ideal for roads.

Gravel bikes strive to balance the system, making them incredibly versatile, especially for riders who want to explore more than just city streets or dedicated bike paths.

And the Model 25 GT takes that idea and cranks it up to an entirely new level.

The spotlight shines on the DJI Avinox drive system, a 2.8kg motor that can provides a massive 120 Nm of torque, producing 1000w of peak power — nearly twice as much torque as its competitors.

The Avinox motor has five assistance modes, all of which are tuneable via the Avinox app.

Riders can choose from the traditional Auto, Eco, Trail and Turbo modes, as well as a 30-second Boost mode, which temporarily delivers that 1000w of maximum power and torque.

The gravel bike comes with a 600Wh integrated battery that delivers triple-digit range (approx. 130km) and offers fast charging capabilities. It reaches 0–75 per cent in just 1.5 hours — less than half the time of other conventional e-bike systems.

To handle the serious power from DJI’s drive system, Paprika needed to rethink the entire gravel bike design, from the frame geometry to the transmission. And their solution seems to be a crossbreed between a mountain and gravel bike.

The rear frame was built around Super Boost 157mm spacing, a platform originally developed for mountain bikes, to anchor the drivetrain against the stresses sustained by the torque created.

“We didn’t break rules for the sake of it. We broke them because this scale of power demanded it,” said Susie

“Some of the choices we made go against traditional bike design, but when you’re dealing with forces this big, many of the old principles don’t hold. You have to rethink everything if you want the rider to stay in control.”

The brand also developed its own handlebar – the Parabola Carbon Bar – that features 25 degrees of flare so riders can feel more in control at faster speeds.

The Model 25 GT pairs an SRAM Eagle 11–50T cassette with a 38T e-mountain chainring, which has been purposely done to preserve momentum across steep climbs, rough surfaces, and heavy acceleration.

The bike also features a RockShox Rudy Ultimate XPLR fork on the front, which gives it 40mm of suspension travel, and SRAM’s Reverb AXS XPLR dropper post, which assists with saddle height adjustments.

The Model 25 GT will be available in June this year and will have a starting price of $12,500.
