KUHN Australia will be at next week’s AFIA Fodder Festival to launch two upgraded top-end balers and introduce its latest belt merger, the Merge Maxx 1090, due in Australia later this year.

Marketing manager and baler product specialist Michael Murer said the new SB 1290 iD large square baler would be part of a demonstrations program, with a VB 7190 round baler on static display.

“The SB 1290 iD arrived in Australia last year, but the 2021 version hasn’t been seen here before,” Mr Murer said. “It has a brand new intake design with power feed roller, pick-up width, tine to tine, lifted to 205cm, pick-up tines 6mm-thick (from 5mm) and five spring coils (from four). We’ll also show a new VB 7190 high-density baler, again, first time on public view, and give a presentation on the Merge Maxx 1090 belt merger. We won’t have one to show, but I’ll illustrate with a 950.

“I’ll also talk about the VBP 3165-95 combi balers due in Australia later this year — the first to offer film-on-film binding instead of net on a variable baler.”

The VB 7100 Series uses an intelligent twin-tension arm system to produce bale densities of up to 140kg m3 in straw and can bale up to 30 tonnes of dry product per hour.

“As for the SB 1290 iD, the machine provides 25 per cent more density than usual and features a crop intake system that delivers 10 per cent more capacity, whether in use for silage, hay, straw, lucerne, maize straw or sugar cane leaves,” Mr Murer said.

Price-wise, the VB 7160 starts at $108,190 and the SB 1290 iD at $299,890, both figures excluding GST.

The Australian Fodder Industry Association’s Fodder Festival 2021 is planned for Wednesday, March 17, at the Elmore Events Centre.

Under the theme of “The Future of Big Square Baling”, the day will feature seven demonstrations of the latest harvesting machinery, a panel discussion, trade displays, three product launches and presentation by Precision Agriculture on the site preparations it undertook for the occasion.
