MAKING its debut at this Wimmera Field Days is Hastings-based Norton Livestock Handling Solutions with its mobile, multi-deck sheep-handling ramp.

The towable ramp (pictured) allows third deck access, and interest is expected from crop farmers running a few sheep.

“We have been getting a lot more interest from the Wimmera area because I think a lot of people are going into mixed farming, spreading their risk with some sheep as well,” said national sales manager Mark Bennett.

“We just thought it was time to head up that way.”

The mobile unit is adjustable from truck deck height to the third deck and comes in two models — in single axle or tandem axle, both of which are fitted with stabiliser legs, jockey wheel and rear lights.

A third, a fixed model that can be attached on to a concrete slab, is also available.

With 1m high sheeted sides and a 900mm wide ribbed ramp floor, the unit features adjustable bat wings at the truck-end of the ramp and an adjustable front bridge to fill the gap between ramp and truck.

“It allows you to load sheep quickly into a multi-deck truck with ease and less labour,” Mark said.

Prices range from $11,250 to $15,000 (incl GST).
