South East Field Days: School’s in for anglers
LUCINDALE will receive its first fish-eye-view experience on the world of angling with the Australian Travelling Fishing Show coming to this year’s South East Field Days.
LUCINDALE will receive its first fish-eye-view experience on the world of angling with the Australian Travelling Fishing Show coming to this year’s South East Field Days.
With a tank full of fish, the show demonstrates how different fishing lures work in a variety of fishing conditions.
“We’ve got two tanks and do 70 shows a year, which keeps us pretty busy,” presenter Michael Cooke said.
But this year will be a first for the South East Field
Days.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” Mr Cooke said.
The show features a 14,000-litre tank and up to 20 Barramundi.
“We talk different fish and show different techniques to catch them,” Mr Cooke said.
Mr Cooke, a fisherman all his life, has been “working the tank” for 17 years.
He was inspired to get involved when he first saw a tank being used in this way nearly two decades ago.
“I was absolutely amazed how good it was to see the lures going through the tank and how the fish responded to the lures,” he said.
While the show is great for the keen fisherman, Mr Cooke said it’s “not just for the anglers”.
“It’s a show for the whole family,” he said.
“We try and take it light, and talk about family side and enjoying the outdoors.”
The Australian Travelling Fishing Show also includes information on 4WD off-road safety, boat safety, knife sharpening, motor maintenance and holiday destinations.
There will be a stall at the Field Days selling products, including Berkley and Yamaha motors.
The Australian Travelling Fishing Show will run 13 20-minute shows a day (depending on the crowd) at Site “G” in the Amphitheatre.
