CONQUEST’S Smart Bin will be on display at the field days along with details of its new liquid fertiliser handling option.

Conquest’s main aim with it is to increase the speed of seeding operations, according to company sales manager Ashley Wallis.

“What we’ve focused on is the speed of unloading,” Mr Wallis said.

Available with either two or three augers, the Smart Bin isn’t limited to using one at a time.

“We make it so that the augers run simultaneously,” Mr Wallis said. “They do at least a ton a minute each.

“A lot of others can do a ton a minute in the augers but they don’t run together.”

This amounts to loading times two or three times faster than would otherwise be possible.

“We want to get the tractors going around the paddock longer through the day,” Mr Wallis said.

“A lot of our clients say they get up to 50 hectares a day of extra seeding, or three hours in the day. It makes a big difference.”

He said much of the secret is in the design of the hydraulics.

“Each auger has its own hydraulic system. That means that the fertiliser auger will spin the same speed as the grain auger.

“If you’ve got two augers running on the same hydraulic system, the grain auger will spin faster because it’s easier to turn.”

He points out that a fully equipped Smart Bin can allow a single operator to handle four products using one remote.

“You can do all your granular and liquid with one operator,” Mr Wallis said.

“Quality is the other thing we concentrate on. We’ve got the stainless steel augers, right to the bottom.

“The bin itself, when you dump the seed, is self-cleaning. It has a couple of spots that you might need to brush, but when you dump, it’s self-cleaning.”

Pricing ranges from around $50,000 up to $120,000, depending upon what options you take for length, height, engines, fertiliser handling and so on.
