AGFEST is an annual highlight for many Hagley Farm Primary School students, and this year will be no exception.

The school’s involvement with Agfest goes back more than two decades.

Now the event is an important part of the school’s activities for both fundraising and from an educational perspective.

Each year the school association runs the Hagley Farm School food, which is a major fundraiser.

As part of the school’s visitor centre and the Tasmanian Agriculture Education Network, the school hosts an informative site each year, aimed at promoting agricultural activities among young people.

The Hagley Farm School site will once again be included in the annual Agfest Kids Agricultural Awareness Program trail.

The co-ordinator of the site is Andrew Harris, who is the lead teacher at the Agriculture Centre of Excellence, which is based at the school.

As well as a fun activity for the KAAP trail, this year’s site will feature hatching baby chickens, which proved popular last year.

Mr Harris said the chicken eggs were now in the incubators and would hopefully be ready to hatch during Agfest.

About 100 Hagley school students will participate in Agfest this year.
