Texas Angus sells bull for $100,000

A two-year-old Angus stud bull has been snapped up by a Queensland farming family for $100,000.

Texas Angus from Warialda, NSW, sold Texas TNT for $100,000 at its bull sale this week.

Texas Angus has continued its run of producing six-figure bulls by posting at $100,000 top price at its sale at Warialda, NSW, yesterday.

Texas TNT, a two-year-old bull, topped the sale where all 272 bulls offered were sold for an average of $14,376 for the Mayne family.

This compares to $16,764 for a total clearance of 252 bulls last July and where the top price was $360,000.

This year’s six-figure bull, Texas TNT, had an impressive set of Breedplan figures, including +147 for 600-day growth which ranked the bull in the top 7 per cent of the breed for this trait, and +89 for carcass weight, which was the top 6 per cent for Angus bulls of that age.

Texas TNT, which weighed 992 kilograms for an average daily weight gain of 1.31 kilograms, had a frame score of 6.1. a scrotal circumference of 41cm and a birthweight figure of +5.

In the comments in the catalogue Texas TNT was described as “the one young sire you must see for yourself”.

“He is even better than his photo,” the commentary read.

“Absolute power, presence and performance.”

The bull weighed 34 kilogram at birth and is “now a 90 kilogram-plus meat machine that has this level of style and stature ... he is a bull that pulls up with a perfect stance every time.

“(He had a) big strong head and outlook, super thick heavy fleshing body, good on his feet and puppy dog quiet.”

The bull sold to Eungy Pastoral Company at Blackall, Queensland.
