RLX to operate Shepparton from 2025
Regional Livestock Exchanges have continued their busy year, acquiring a third saleyard to their portfolio.
The Shepparton saleyards will be under new management in the new year, after Regional Livestock Exchanges was announced as the preferred operator on Thursday.
The Greater Shepparton City Council has offered a 10-year lease to RLX, with four additional five year options available.
Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali said the saleyards have “enormous potential” amid already strong sales numbers, with the council and RLX to meet to discuss priorities for yard improvements in the coming years.
“I encourage farmers, stock agents and members of the community to maintain their commitment to the local saleyards and the new operators Regional Livestock Exchanges,” he said.
The saleyards are currently operated by Brendan Carey from Australian Saleyard Management, who commenced operations at the beginning of 2019, with the contract to cease at the end of the year.
This is the third saleyard RLX has brought into their portfolio this year, while also ceasing operations at Camperdown last month in a busy 2024 for the company.
“Shepparton Regional Saleyards is a significant regional stock selling complex and the announcement of RLX as preferred operator is a huge vote of confidence in the professionalism, capital and other improvements that the company brings to the sites it operates,” RLX chief executive Brett Freer said.
“RLX look forward to working with council to finalise terms of operation and with all Shepparton Regional Saleyards site users on improving operations for the benefit of the whole community.”
This will take the portfolio of RLX saleyards across Australia’s eastern seaboard back up to 10, which includes CVLX at Ballarat, NVLX at Barnawartha and WVLX at Mortlake.
