They have been in the show ring since they were seven-years-old.

And twin sisters Sienna and Jayde Grylls of Grylls Cattle Co at Tynong North still love showing cattle and the opportunities it offers them.

Now 15, both Jayde and Sienna are preparing to travel from Victoria to Tamworth, NSW, for the Angus Youth Roundup on January 8-12.

Jayde has been to the leading Angus event twice before, while Sienna has been once.

“I like making new friends and learning more about the industry and how we might be able to impact the future generations,” Jayde said.

“These events are about meeting new people and creating connections, and I enjoy learning more about how to fit (grooming and management to get cattle ready for showing). The Angus Youth Roundup is a really informative event,” Sienna said.

Jayde and Sienna enjoy the group fitting competition as well as the paraders competition and junior judging.

As well as the Angus Youth Roundup, the girls will show their family’s Angus and Simmental cattle at the local show circuit, from January to April and then Melbourne Royal later in the year.

They also take as many opportunities as they can to attend other youth events, including the National All Breeds junior heifer show and the South Australia junior heifer expo.

“Showing for us is about spending time with friends, as well as helping us build connections and open up opportunities,” Sienna said.

“It also helps get our name out there,” Jayde said.

Having just completed year 9, finishing school is a little way off for the twins, but both hope to stay in the agriculture industry.

“I definitely want to work in agriculture. It is a great industry to be part of and has great people in it,” Sienna said.

“I agree and I just want to learn more and be part of the future of agriculture as much as I can,” Jayde said.
