A Queensland woman has created an accurate, life-size, fully edible cake of the acrobatic singer P!nk and taken home a prestigious prize for her efforts.

Sunshine Coast cake maker, Renee Jarrett, 48, of Caloundra West, took home a gold certificate and first prize at the International Cake Show Australia for her P!nk cake.

Ms Jarrett, a professional cake maker for more than 10 years and who runs Daisy Cakes and Bakes at Currimundi, said usually she would dedicate months to a life-size cake.

But she only made up her mind to enter the prestigious competition the week beforehand.

“I worked like mad to get her completed in time,” she said.

It took her 50 hours to complete, from design to finish, with chocolate and Rice Krispies Treats included in it.

The cake, excluding the hair, was entirely hand sculpted and hand painted.

Ms Jarrett won the bust cake category and the theme was heroes or someone inspiring.

“P!nk’s face is so well recognised, she’s loved by us Aussies,” Ms Jarrett said.

“I’d recently seen her show in Brisbane too.

“I wanted to capture her fun energy and facial expressions.

“I love her music and think she’s an incredible artist.”

The keen baker said her favourite P!nk song was Raise a Glass because it would always cheer her up.

“I just think she’s so real … she’s a bit gritty and is relatable to a lot of people, which is why I think she’s so popular,” Ms Jarrett said.

“Her music has got me through some tough times.

“She’s very inspiring with everything she does especially considering that she’s a mum. I don’t know how she does it all.”

The life-size cake bust of the pop music icon is still sitting on Ms Jarrett’s work bench.

“I can’t bring myself to throw her away,” she said.

“So she’ll probably stay there until I figure out what to do with her now.”

Hosted by the Australian Cake Artists and Decorators Association, the International Cake Show Australia was established in 2017.

This year’s event in Brisbane attracted almost 10,000 attendees, and the show champion hailed from Paris.
