A Sunshine Coast chippy is angry and disappointed in the lack of action from police after having his work trailer and $30,000 worth of tools stolen.
Judd Hulls, 30, of Little Mountain, has been working as a carpenter in the region for 15 years and has been subcontracting under his own company, HullsyHomes, for nearly five years.
Mr Hulls said his “entire livelihood” was taken froma house at Springs Dr, Meridan Plains and law enforcement were yet to find the culprit.
“I sat at home for two days and on the third day realised the police were in no rush and I probably wasn’t going to get anything back,” he said.
“So I went out and spent pretty well everything I’ve got to get us going again.
“About $15,000 and I’ve probably got another $10,000 to spend just in tools.
“Can’t earn money sitting at home so really don’t have much choice
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said they were investigating.
“The trailer was located by a member of the public at 12.15am on Friday, April 19, on Fred Chaplin Circuit, Corbould Park,” she said.
“Police are continuing investigations to identify those involved.
“Anyone with information that may assist, or CCTV footage of the area the trailer was located, is urged to contact police.”
The angered chippy said he hadn’t heard anything from police since the trailer was found.
“No real update since my trailer was found dumped out the back of Caloundra industrial area,” Mr Hulls said.
“There was video footage of the guys who did it dropping it off but somehow the police still haven’t contacted me with any progress.
“Bit disappointed to be honest. They don’t mind going after petty crime but when someone has $30,000 worth of tools and their whole livelihood stolen it’s a bit like ah well.”
A mate of Mr Hulls, Riley Manfield, started a GoFundMe campaign to help him out in the meantime.
“Any help to try get my tools back or have these scumbags caught is huge,” Mr Hulls said.
