Meet the four-ingredient Milo fruit cake

Let’s face it - Milo makes everything better. And in this case it’s the ingredient that will turn fruit cake haters into fruit cake lovers. Check out our recipe here and see what else you can make with Milo.

With Christmas creeping up slowly, it’s time to start thinking about the all-important fruit cake. From classic fruit cakes to extra boozy fruit cakes, white Christmas fruit cakes (and anything else in between), here at taste.com.au we’re fruit cake fanatics – I know, controversial.

And while we’re die-hard fruit cake stans, we know there are a lot of you who despise fruit cake and we can understand why.

Dried fruit and nuts in a cake are sometimes not as appealing as a cake dripping in chocolate, smothered in whipped cream or covered in lashings of buttercream.

However, we think it’s time to convert you fruit cake haters to fruit cake lovers and we’ve got the perfect fruit cake to do so.

Say G’day to the four-ingredient Milo fruit cake

Now I’m sure you read the word Milo and didn’t need any further convincing, since Milo makes everything better. But there are more reasons than Milo to make this fruit cake. Alongside Milo, all you need is dried mixed fruit, milk and flour to make this fruit cake – that’s right, there are only FOUR ingredients in this cake. Also, it’s super-duper easy to make – no need to think about buying a fruit cake this year.

The addition of Milo to this fruit cake lends a subtle chocolate-malty flavour that pairs well with the more classic fruit cake flavours in this cake. This will be the one fruit cake where you fruit cake haters (and the kids) will probably go back for seconds.

Some things never go out of style and one of those things is Milo. At the moment, Milo is having a bit of a moment on social media and we’ve been going Milo mad!

From Macca’s FINALLY bringing the Milo McFlurry to Australia to fairy bread becoming even more Aussie, there’s been a lot of awesome action in the Milosphere.

Adults: this is the Milo treat for you. This ice-cream is a combo of our favourite childhood beverage and our current adult obsession. The malty-chocolatey flavour of Milo complements the vanilla and chocolate flavour of Baileys well to create the ultimate adult Milo treat (feel free to make a portion and leave out the Baileys so the kids can enjoy some too).
