A Euro summer calls for Aperol but an Aussie summer calls for frapperol.
Anyone who’s been on the internet for the last couple of months has probably seen an Aperol Spritz or two on their feed. Dubbed the drink of Euro summer, the Aperol Spritz is the prosecco-based cocktail with a distinct orange hue and a bitter taste that is enjoyed all over the world… and a very popular addition to that Euro summer Insta pic.
However, if you weren’t lucky enough to be sipping an Aperol Spritz on the Amalfi Coast this year then don’t worry, Aussie summer is just around the corner and we’ve got a drink that’ll be perfect for those very warm nights.
Say ciao to frapperol
Created by taste.com.au’s food director Michelle Southan (who’s a bit of a cocktail guru), the frapperol is simply a frozen aperol spritz – the perfect cool-me-down for the sweltering days ahead.
This cocktail has all the classic spritz ingredients such as Aperol and prosecco but also has orange juice to sweeten the deal.
If you dislike the usual bitterness of an Aperol spritz, the orange juice helps cut through it.
To make this drink, simply blend Aperol, prosecco, ice, and frozen orange juice till you get the prettiest peachy-coloured slushie. Serve with blood orange slices and enjoy a wonderful Aussie summer. You can find the recipe HERE.
