Australian drinks left out for Santa for Christmas 2023

Long gone are the days of cookies and milk being left out for Saint Nicholas (also known as Santa Clause). Here’s some of the amazing offerings Aussies leave our for the big bloke on December 25.

If there’s one bloke who can hold their liquor, it’s Santa.

After asking our Facebook friends what they leave Santa on Christmas Eve (link), it was revealed a lot of you actually treat the big guy to a drink (or few).

What are Aussies leaving out for Santa?

From bottles of Guinness and Jack Daniels to a six-pack of Asahi or a glass of port, we’re not sure how Santa does it. Or as taste.com.au reader Rebecca rightfully pointed out: “I am a bit worried of Santa blowing well over the limit for the amount of alcohol he is getting.”

But, then again, with millions of children to visit in just one night, if there’s anyone who deserves a drink on Christmas Eve, it’s him!

Well, when we consulted our cocktail experts on the team – yes, that job exists – they suggested three main drinks to leave out for the red man.

Firstly, to keep him awake and allow him to tick off his extensive recipient list, they recommended our iced Baileys coffee – no problem with it getting cold, the perfect caffeine hit, and it requires only two ingredients.

Next up, our musk stick margarita got the call up. After all, it’s pretty, nostalgic and adds a bit of fanfare.

Finally, to keep Santa on the straight and narrow – after all, he’s a busy man with lots to do – and so he can beat the December heat, our experts suggest this watermelon ‘nojito’. Doesn’t it just look epic?
