One-ingredient Ninja Creami dessert hack
A can of fruit, a Ninja Creami and an ice-cream dream.
There’s a new kitchen appliance on the block that’s completely changing the homemade ice-cream game. Gone are the days of having to watch an old-school machine churn for a minimum of 30 minutes. This one does the hard work in just 3 minutes – and has multiple settings, depending on the frozen treat you want.
Meet the Ninja Creami: Australia’s most viral appliance of 2024
We’re talking about the Ninja Creami – the appliance that has grown a cult following quicker than we could say air fryer back in 2019.
Averaging 4.6 out of 5 stars on Google, Amazon, JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys, users are dubbing the Ninja Creami as “seriously the best-ever appliance”.
Taste.com.au food editor Elisa Pietrantonio tested it out and confirmed that it’s well worth the hype. All you have to do is pour the ingredients into the tub, freeze overnight then select which of the 7 programs you want to use. Three minutes later, you’ve got your ice-cream (or sorbet, milkshake, smoothie etc.)
One-ingredient ‘ice-cream’ in the Ninja Creami
Elisa is a bit of a superstar when it comes to making classic sorbets. Sorbets typically consist of pureed fruit and a simple sugar syrup, to give the sorbet some structure.
But being the creative genius that she is, she’s managed to work out how to make sorbet in the Ninja Creami with only one ingredient… and she’s convinced that this is “the best yet”.
So what was the one ingredient?
How to make our miracle 1-ingredient Ninja Creami dessert
Elisa’s secret ingredient is a humble can of pineapple! That’s right, it’s possible to make a perfectly sweet and refreshing frozen pineapple dessert using JUST a can of pineapple, because the juice surrounding the fruit contains sugar that can work in the place of the simple syrup to get that ideal sorbet-like consistency.
We say she’s a genius, but Elisa also credits the success of her frozen pineapple dessert to the Ninja Creami ice-cream maker, whipping the fruit up to creamy, sweet perfection.
What does Ninja Creami ‘ice-cream’ taste like?
Strictly speaking, this one isn’t an ice-cream. But it tastes as creamy and delicious as the real deal! Elisa says: “I honestly didn’t believe it was possible until I whipped out [the] appliance. All you need is a can of pineapple and a little bit of patience, because this recipe requires 8 hours of freezing.” It’s a winner!

Our Food Director Michelle Southan has also tried freezing a can of condensed milk and cream in the Ninja Creami and confirmed that it made delicious ice-cream too.
Other fruits to use in your Ninja Creami
If pineapple is not your thing, then any other canned fruits such as peaches, lychees or mango will work a treat.
Where can I buy a Ninja Creami Ice-Cream Maker?
